Georgette Sonnier Carriere

Georgette Sonnier Carriere, 81 of Groves passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  Georgette was born August 29, 1934 in Delcambre, Louisiana to the late Purvis Sonnier and Linda Richard Sonnier and was a lifelong resident of Groves, Texas.  She was a member of the Silver Steak Travel Trailer Club, the Toe Tappers Club, the Alter Society and a Cub Scout Leader.   Georgette valued traveling and the times spent with her family.  She will be greatly missed by many.

Georgette is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Terry Carriere, and husband of 63 years, Ollen Carriere.

Georgette is survived by her sons, Neil Carriere of Orangefield; Bert Carriere of Groves; daughter, Roxanne Daws and her husband Mike of Port Neches; grandchildren, Jason Daws, Ryan Daws, Blake Carriere, Colton Carriere, Alexandria Carriere, Addyson Carriere, Amanda Dillon and her husband Justin, and Quinton Carriere; great grandchildren, Austyn Dillon and Jace Dillon.

A gathering of family and friends will be held, Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Groves with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.  The family would like to send a special note of appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Oak Grove Nursing Home for the care and compassion they gave Georgette.
