Irene M Schwartzenburg

Irene M Schwartzenburg, 93, of Port Neches, Texas, fondly known as “Nanny and Irenesky,” entered into eternal life on March 3, 2016.  Ms. Schwartzenburg was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on November 21, 1922 to parents, John and Virginia Schwartzenburg.  In the mid 1940’s she moved to Port Arthur, Texas and retired from Texaco Marine Department where she worked for twenty years as a time keeper and payroll clerk.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Church, and also enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and traveling with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Allen Schwartzenburg, James Schwartzenburg, Albert Schwartzenburg, and sisters, Adele Fisher, Rose Placette, and Velma Rasberry.   Survivors include: sister, Edna Redlich, daughter Kay Reho and husband Steve, daughter Stacey Miller and husband R.L, step-daughter Ramona Lee and husband Bruce, step-son Dennis Gesser and grandchildren, William “Joe” Reho, Maxwel Reho, Noah Miller, Marie Wasson, April Roberts, Aaron Oliver, Mark Oliver and Monica Bethke.  Special Extended Family members include; Carol Batty and Robert Walker and their children, Merila Walker Thorne-Thomsen, John Walker and Miriam Walker. And numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, March 7, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Port Neches, with Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
