Renell Maria Perron, 71, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Harbor Hospice Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Renell was born September 23, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Rene Joseph d’Audereau and Verna Broussard. Her father was killed in action when she was one and she was raised by Alto Berry Smith, Sr.

 She was a lifelong area resident and member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

She was a teacher and retired after 30 years of service. Her teaching career included DeQueen Elementary School and Lamar University, she was also a member of Port Arthur Teachers Association. She was recognized for her years of service, and was named Teacher of the Year.

Renell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Christine Hood; and brother, Alto Berry Smith, Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Malcolm Perron of Port Arthur; three sons, Rahn Perron of Groves, Shawn Perron of Mauriceville, Chad Perron and Meagan of Groves; two grandchildren, Tanner Perron and Julian Perron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Monsignor Dan Malain officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Mondayevening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
