Yvonne Poche’ Wharton was born on September 12, 1936 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and grew up in Hammond, Louisiana. She died on March 6, 2016, in Beaumont, Texas. She resided happily in Jefferson County, Texas since 1967.
She is survived by her husband, Edward B. Wharton and daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth (Betsy) and Robin Pfannstiel, Kathleen Wharton, and Katherine (Katie) and Todd Vincent, grandchildren, Laura Pfannstiel Telfer, Matthew Wharton Vincent, and Hillary Claire Vincent and sister-in-law, Peggy Palmer Poche’.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, H. O’Neill Poche’ and Catherine Claire Robertson Poche’, brother, John Poche’, and sister, Jeanette Poche’ Bailey.
A gathering of Mrs. Wharton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, Texas. Her funeral service will be conducted by The Reverend Cliff Rucker at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street (Highway 365), Port Neches, Texas. A second gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 1190 Highway 51 North, Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Her graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2016, at Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas 77651.
