Louisiana deputy shot multiple times has died

HARVEY, La. (WGNO) – A Jefferson Parish deputy died while attempting to conduct a pedestrian stop on Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey, according to Col. John Fortunato.

The deputy’s name has not been released at this time.

During a press conference, Fortunato said authorities are looking for two suspects. One suspect is described as a black man wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts. The other suspect is described as a white man wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts.

Authorities are questioning a lot of people, but they can not say if they have a shooter in custody.

The shooting happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Manhattan Boulevard and Ascot Road.

JPSO has shut down Manhattan Boulevard northbound at Lapalco Blvd.  The southbound lanes of Manhattan will remain open.
