PREP ROUNDUP: Memorial VB sweeps Ozen

BEAUMONT — Port Arthur Memorial hit .405 as a team Friday in taking a 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of Ozen in District 22-5A play.

Riyah Collins hit .600 and had eight kills and four assists on the night. Nayla Bezile finished with eight kills as well, and Diamond Newsome contributed four. Jamiyah Dixon totaled seven points.

Memorial (10-13-1, 2-3 in 22-5A) hosts Vidor on Tuesday.

PNG 3, LUMBERTON 1
PORT NECHES — Libbie LeJeune served 20 points and collected 18 digs, and the Rock-A-Noos improved to 5-0 in District 22-5A with a 25-15, 25-14, 19-25, 25-22 feat over Lumberton on Friday.

Kailey Oliver served 19 points and blocked seven for PNG. Bailey Priddy had 21 assists, Bayja Newby dug 19, Rachel Hammersmith scooped 13, Hannah Jones totaled 11 kills, Elizabeth Bolyard had nine kills and Kaitlyn Gill matched Bolyard’s total to go with five blocks.

Next for PNG is a visit to Central on Tuesday.

NEDERLAND 3, VIDOR 1
NEDERLAND — Senior Darcie Jones had 27 digs Friday in Nederland’s four-set victory over Vidor Friday.
Nederland (4-1 in District 22-5A) defeated Vidor 25-18, 25-13, 25-27 and 25-14.

Kennedy Kieschnick finished with three aces and five digs, Chelsey Gallagher had 11 digs and two aces, Hannah Smith had six blocks and eight kills and Amanda Longlet three blocks and six kills.

Katelynn Huckabay finished with three blocks and six kills, Peyton Parker added seven kills and Abbey Montalvo had 41 assists and nine digs.

Nederland plays at Livingston at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Also Friday, Bob Hope lost in straight sets to East Chambers in Winnie, but scores were unavailable.
