Holmes elected to county court at law post

In a race that saw several lead changes for the evening, Democrat Terrence Holmes outlasted Republican Luke Nichols to win the Jefferson County Court at Law 2 seat.
Holmes received 43,666 votes for 51 percent of the vote to Nichols’ 42,090 for 49 percent with all precincts reporting.
Holmes, 59, is a private practice attorney and part-time municipal judge for the city of Beaumont. He has been an attorney for 25 years, three of those years as a prosecutor and 22 years as a defense attorney. He has been municipal judge for seven years. He is married to Tammy, who is a school norse, and they have two daughters.
