The ibex is one of the most graceful animals on Earth.

With the ability to jump as high as 12 feet standing flat-footed they navigate the most rugged, mountainous terrain throughout Europe and Asia.

I photographed this ibex on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

They were stocked on private ranches for hunting decades ago and thrive on properties with hilly, rocky habitat.

This specimen was with a large herd but when it saw me got spooked and bolted out of the way. It had no reason to jump but it did several times as it ran from the edge of a tree line into deep brush.
