Inmate sentenced for biting guard

BEAUMONT — A 38-year-old federal inmate has been sentenced for assaulting a prison guard in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston today.
Montreal Delaney, of New Orleans, pleaded guilty on June 1, 2016, to assaulting a federal officer and was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Ron Clark.
According to information presented in court, on Dec. 22, 2015, Delaney, a federal inmate housed in the Federal Correctional Complex in Beaumont, became combative while being transported to the medical unit at the prison. A Bureau of Prisons correctional officer attempted to restrain Delaney and was bitten by Delaney resulting in a wound and bruising that required medical treatment.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Rapp.
