Edward Browning Quist

Edward Browning Quist died peacefully on April 28, 2017, surrounded by his seven children. Ed was born on December 17, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, to William Ray Quist and Mary Vera Lancaster. He is survived by his children Maryanna Cone, Elizabeth Kirk, Marie Palmer, Covey Quist, Edward Quist II, Jefferson Quist, and Ellen Rowley, fifteen grandchildren, his siblings Dorothy Lundquist, William Quist, John Quist, Robert Quist and their families.

Ed grew up in West Los Angeles and was an English major at Brigham Young University. He had a talent and a love for music and played guitar in a rock band. He graduated with a juris doctorate from Oklahoma City University Law School.

Dr. Quist was a professor of law at Lamar State College in Port Arthur, Texas, for over twenty years, where he established Lamar’s paralegal program. He loved his students and often joked that he wanted to die at the blackboard. He was a great supporter of Lamar athletics and announced the college basketball games, which he loved. He was a radio station DJ for over a decade and loved to travel to see his children and grandchildren.

He is loved and will be missed.

A memorial will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Carl A. Parker Multipurpose Center, 1800 Lakeshore Drive, Port Arthur.
