The City of Nederland said early Thursday the rumors spreading via social media regarding the city’s water supply having problems are not true.
Despite the City of Beaumont losing its water supply this morning, Nederland’s water supply is the Lower Neches Valley Authority (LNVA).
“We have been in close contact with them and our water supply is still available,” a Nederland city spokesman said. “If the water supply were to become unavailable, we have storage in the water towers and would ask people to conserve water. But at this time, the water is safe and our water supply is secure.”
The city reported that the Mid-County Central Dispatch Center has been inundated with calls regarding various rumors. The cities of Nederland, Port Neches and Groves have no intention of disrupting their water services in any way. No indications exist that any Neches River flood waters will affect Nederland.
If you have questions that are not emergencies, please do not call 911 and tie up the lines. Instead for questions concerning water service, solid waste or other city services for the City of Nederland please call: 409-723-1503 or 409-723-1504.

In addition, the recycling center is not available until further notice. Finally, we are finalizing plan s to manage debris pick-up related to TS Harvey water damage. We will share an update soon.”
