Authorities have identified the single fatality from the Tropical Storm Harvey flood as Dorothy Helen Lacobie.

She died on Saturday and she was 88.

According to Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett, she was found in her home after the floodwater receded.

“Witnesses said they saw indications that there was water knee high in her home,” he said.

According to Burnett her pet cat, which was in a pet carrier, also died.

“The decadent was found face down in her bedroom,” Burnett said. “The water had subsided but it was obvious that she had been under water. The furniture was all disarrayed in the house because it had been floating around.”

She was interred at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
