Grand jury indictments for Sept. 20

The following persons were indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury this week.

  • Robert Lewis, 62, of Beaumont, was indicted for murder for an incident that occurred Aug. 11 in Beaumont.
  • Wayne Everett Cummings, 36, of Beaumont, was indicted for intoxication manslaughter for an incident that occurred Jan. 18 in Beaumont.
  • Darius Gardiner, 24, of Beaumont was indicted for murder for an incident that occurred June 30 in Beaumont.
  • Malcolm Renee Ross, 51, of Beaumont was indicted for aggravated robbery for an incident that occurred May 1 in Beaumont.
  • David Roy Matthews Jr., 33, of Spring, impersonating a public servant for an incident that occurred Sept. 6 in Jefferson County.

  • Ajohntay Griffin, 19, of Beaumont, aggravated robbery for an incident that occurred Aug. 17 in Nederland.
  • Joshua Daley Corbin, 26, of Beaumont, was indicted for aggravated assault-family violence for an incident that occurred Aug. 20 in Beaumont.
  • Leo Mathews, also known as Leo JaRoyce Mathews, 35, of Beaumont was indicted for aggravated assault-family violence for an incident that occurred July 31 in Beaumont.
  • Javier Solis Jr., 28, was indicted for burglary of a habitation for an incident that occurred July 25 in Port Arthur.
  • James Harold Sampson, 78, of Port Arthur was indicted for felony driving while intoxicated-third or more for an incident that occurred Sept. 25, 2016 in Port Arthur.
  • Christopher Carl Fontenot, 38, transient was indicted for aggravated assault for an incident that occurred Nov. 11, 2016 in Beaumont.
  • Joinae L. Powell, 26, of Beaumont was indicted for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger for an incident that occurred Nov. 21, 2016 in Beaumont.
  • Joinae L. Powell, 26, of Beaumont was indicted evading arrest/detention with use of a vehicle for an incident that occurred Nov. 21, 2016 in Beaumont.
  • Heath Issac Stevison, 35, of Nederland, was indicted for driving while intoxicated with child passenger for an incident that occurred July 14 in Groves.
  • Latasha Renee Lucas, 33, of Port Arthur was indicted for felony driving while intoxicated for an incident that occurred Oct. 2, 2016 in Port Arthur.
  • Peyton Cole Smith, 24, of Nederland was indicted for felony driving while intoxicated for an incident that occurred July 1 in Nederland.
  • Jack Douglas Hooper, 46, of Nederland was indicted for felony driving while intoxicated for an incident that occurred Aug. 19 in Nederland.
  • Troy Anthony Wilturner, 48, of Beaumont was indicted for burglary of a building for an incident that occurred July 27 in Beaumont.
  • Earl James Quincy, also known as Earl Ray Quincy, 60, transient was indicted for burglary of a building for an incident that occurred July 4 in Beaumont.
  • Ronald Antoine, 31, of Beaumont was indicted for felony driving while intoxicated for an incident that occurred June 6, 2016 in Beaumont.
  • Eric Christin Hernandez, AKA Eric Christian Hernandez, 21, of Port Neches was indicted for possession of marijuana for an incident that occurred May 18 in Port Neches.
  • Anthony Michael Gants, 21, of Port Neches was indicted for possession of marijuana or an incident that occurred May 18 in Port Neches.
  • Julius Bell, 17, of Beaumont was indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity for an incident that occurred Dec. 30, 2016 in Beaumont.

An indictment is not a final conviction of guilt; it is only a ruling by the grand jury that allows the district attorney’s office to proceed with a criminal case.
