Ivory C. Lowe, Sr.

Ivory C. Lowe, Sr. entered eternal rest Thursday, September 14, 2107. He was the oldest of three children born JUNE 11,1924 to the late Rev. George A. Lowe and Minnie Jones Lowe.
Brother Ivory was a long-time member and Trustee of Historic Israel Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and a 33rd Degree Mason
Ivory was a native of Bunkie, Louisiana. During his lifetime he lived in Midland, TX and Detroit, MI as well as Port Arthur, TX. He served in the United States Air Force and was discharged honorably. He moved to Detroit and became a business Entrepreneur, supervising many, construction and building projects. A man of many talents, Ivory was a tailor, in addition to a carpenter.
He later made his home in Port Arthur, where he was near his two sisters, one in Port Arthur and one in New Orleans and he married Annie Dewitt. His carpenter skills were utilized through out the city, with the most impressive being in the sanctuary of his beloved church, Israel Chapel.
Ivory was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Sue Joe and Bobbie; one sister, Dorothy Minnard.
Cherishing the precious memories of his life, his devoted wife Annie Jewell; his daughters: Maxine Hines, Ada Lowe, Ethel Robinson (Lloyd); Sons: Ivory Lowe, Jr. Bennie Williams, Lewella Lowe; Stepchildren: Samuel Wade Taylor, Debra Suggs (Milton), and Judy Taylor. 16 Grandchildren; 28 Great grandchildren; 17 Great Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Great grand children; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 3:00 P.M. at Historic Israel Chapel AME Church, with a viewing beginning at 1:00 P.M. Rev. The Mays officiating. Interment will be Tuesday 10:30 A.M. at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX. Services entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
