Helen Marie Lewis

Helen Marie Lewis went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 26th, 2017 at Medical City Alliance hospital in Fort Worth, Tx. She was surrounded by her family and a surplus of love. Helen was a resident of Port Arthur for over 60 years. There was not a person that came into contact with her that was not keenly aware of the love that she had for people. She was mom to her children, grandma or momo to her grandchildren and ‘Mama Lew’ to several Port Arthur and Beaumont residents. She was previously employed at Hughen Center and retired from the Port Arthur Independent School District as a food service employee. Helen Lewis was born in Bessie May, Texas to Rufus and Ellen Redd and later resided in Beaumont with her family. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1957. She later met and married Libby Dosie Lewis (1958) with whom all eight children were born.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2 PM Saturday at Encounter Church, 5300 Twin City Hwy., Groves, TX with visitation from 12 noon until service time.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery on Twin City Highway in Port Arthur, Texas under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.  Helen Lewis enjoyed being surrounded by loved ones, join us as we celebrate her life and legacy.

Survivors include: Her children—Micheal Anthony Lewis (Port Arthur), Anita Faye Lewis (Round Rock), Stephanie Lynette Lewis Stallworth (Melvin)(Beaumont), Reginald Glen Lewis (Port Arthur), Sharon Denise Lewis (Dallas), April Rachelle Lewis Collins (Randall) (Port Arthur), Nazeria Anne Lewis Scott (Roderick)(Euless). Her grandchildren—George Lewis, Trisha Navarro (Robert), Andrea Stallworth Hopson (Matthew), Melvin “Ryan” Stallworth, Carrie Herring, Jordan Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Christian Collins, Monique Thibodeaux, Jerald Donald Thibodeaux III, Natalie Thibodeaux. Her great grandchildren—Jeremiah Taylor, Matthew Hopson; Her siblings— Freddie Redd, Rufus Gene Redd (Vernelle) (Augusta), Philip Redd (Esther) (Beaumont), Irma Lee Johnson (Port Arthur).
