Andrew Landry made his return to the PGA Tour a memorable one Sunday by authoring a top-10 finish, highlighted by a 40-foot eagle putt on the 72nd hole of the Safeway Open in Napa, California.

Landry, who tied for seventh in the 2017-18 season-opening event, shot a final round of three-under par 69 for a 10-under total of 278. He had opened with a 71, then followed with three consecutive 69s.

The Port Neches-Groves ex, who played the PGA Tour two years ago but lost his card by not finishing in the top 125 in FedEx points, earned $199,950. It was the second time he has been in the top 10 in a PGA Tour event.

Landry finished five shots behind tournament winner Brendan Steele.

The next PGA Tour event in which he is eligible to participate is the Oct. 26-29 Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Miss.

Coming to the par-5, 18th hole Sunday, Landry was tied for 14th place. He unleashed a 369-yard drive, then left his 211-yard second 39 feet, 7 inches from the hole.

The other two players with area ties in the Safeway did not fare nearly as well as Landry. Lamar ex Shawn Stefani, after stumbling through rounds of 73-78 on the weekend, finished tied for 64th with a two-over-par 290. PNG and LU ex Chris Stroud missed the cut after rounds of 75-73.
