GOLF NOTEPAD: Bailey delivers another top-10 for Baylor
Published 5:05 pm Tuesday, October 10, 2017
Braden Bailey continued to be a top-10 machine for the Baylor Bears,
finishing seventh in the Jerry Pate Invitational that concluded Tuesday in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Bailey, after shooting 64-69 on Monday, was in position to win but faltered on the final nine holes Tuesday. He wound up having to settle for a closing 72. No. 4 ranked Baylor placed third in the tournament, finishing seven shots behind Alabama and one back of Auburn.
For Port Neches-Groves ex Bailey, it was his third consecutive top 10 of the fall and his 13th in two plus seasons at Baylor. Despite the 72 on Tuesday, he lowered his season stroke average for nine rounds to 69.6.
His 64 on Monday, which featured eight birdies against two bogeys, was the second low round of the tournament.
