Lisa Jo Colten

Lisa Jo Colten, 58, of Nederland, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was born in Port Arthur, TX on July 17, 1959. Lisa graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Lamar University Port Arthur. She was married to David Colten on November 26, 1977. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, TX, and was a dedicated Christian. Lisa was the Asst. Director of Human Resources for the City of Port Arthur. She served on the Board of Directors at United Way, the Grant Allocations Committee, the Bereavement Committee of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, and was an ACTS Sister. Lisa also served on the Board of Directors for the Order of the Son’s of Italy, La Famiglia di Southeast TX.

She loved to be surrounded by family and friends.  Lisa loved to read, bake, and go shopping, visit new places, and had a passion for the Italian culture.

She is survived by her husband, David Colten of Nederland; her mother, Betty Messina, of Austin, TX; 3 children, April Gross and her husband, Danny Gross, of Sugar Land, TX; Kevin Colten and his wife, Laura, of Austin, TX ; Zachary Colten and his wife, Taylor Colten, of Bridge City, TX; 8 grandchildren, Austin, Brayden, & Colten Gross, Eden & Eve Gomez, Arlo Colten, Ivy Colten, and baby on the way; 4 siblings, Candy Meyers, John Messina, William Messina, and Laura Messina.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Messina.

A Christian Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends and relatives from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Rite of Committal will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
