Human remains ID’d as Houston murder victim

JEFFFERSON COUNTY — Human remains found last December have been identified as a murder victim from Houston.

A rancher discovered the remains on his property on Dec. 10, 2016 while repairing a fence near the 22000 block of Sattler

Road, which is near the Jefferson and Chambers county line, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The remains were wrapped up in material and it was determined the victim had been murdered. Also found at the scene was a pair of pink reading glasses.

A pair of pink reading glasses were found near the body of George Beers, a murder victim from Houston.

The human remains were submitted to the University of North Texas for analysis and through a DNA profile the victim was identified as George Arlin Beers, 60, of Houston. Beers was last seen on July 3,2014 near the 610 loop and Bellaire in Houston. A missing persons report was made by a family member n September 2014.

Jefferson County detectives are working with the Houston Police Department investigators to solve the case.
