Port Arthur’s own Xclusive Allstars dance team recently wrapped up taping for a segment on the next season of Bring It to be aired on the Lifetime Network.

About a month ago the team traveled to Dallas where they were part of the Hurricane Harvey Showcase. The production team came to Port Arthur and finished the filming and focused on how the team is doing after losing their studio to Harvey’s catastrophic flooding as well as how some of the team members are dealing with the loss of their home and belongings, Lola Franklin, director of Xclusive Allstars, said.

“We’ve worked with the Dancing Dolls on numerous occasions and performances,” Franklin said of the show’s famous dance group. “And we’ve also been featured twice with some of our sister teams, too.”

Bring It, a reality dance show, centers around the Dancing Dolls of Jackson, Mississippi and features coach Dianna “Miss D” Williams and her team. It is currently in its fourth season with the fifth season set to air next year.

Even with the local team’s accolades there are hardships.

“At this moment we don’t have anywhere to practice. Our regular location was storm damaged so we pretty much practice under the pavilion (downtown Port Arthur) or some times at the tennis courts at Rose Hill Park,” she said.

As a nonprofit organization Franklin would like to see support from the city and maybe some sponsorship, she added.

Then, if she can’t find a permanent location, the group may have to make a move to Beaumont; something she doesn’t want to do.

Currently there are six students ranging form elementary to high school ages and auditions for new dancers will soon be scheduled.

“We are getting ready to have auditions for new dancers to be part of the scene,” she said. “We will be doing more filming and have a really, really big event in December. We will be traveling to Myrtle Beach, Virginia to do a special performance at the All American Football Game that will be live streamed.”

Besides the loss of the studio, the students lost a lot.

“Some lost everything and some of them are still displaced from the storm,” she said. “The biggest concern is getting a new studio to practice and continue filming and traveling and doing the normal things we’ve been doing.”

As a nonprofit, anything not raised through fundraising comes out of pocket and that can be expensive.
