The Texas Board of Nursing has temporarily suspended Kevin Morgan, family nurse practitioner and owner of Optimum Medical Weight Control and Family Wellness in Nederland.
The TBN hearing was held Dec. 1 in Austin with the conclusion that Morgan’s continued practice as a nurse would constitute a continuing and imminent threat to the public welfare, according to the order of temporary suspension.
Information presented centered around 12 patients who were prescribed high doses of testosterone and thyroid hormones when those drugs were reportedly not needed.
In late October the Drug Enforcement Agency and Jefferson County Narcotics Division with the assistance of the Nederland Police raided the clinic, located at 1003 Nederland Ave.
The Optimum Family Clinic offers primary care, nutritional services and hormone therapy treatments to patients, according to the clinic website.
Some of the hormone treatments utilized bioidentical hormone pellet therapy. The clinic also touted weight loss through a manipulation diet using hormones.
The clinic also offered treatments such as Botox and medical spa treatments.
