PORT NECHES — Just four days earlier, Port Neches-Groves handled Bridge City to the tune of a 49-35 win in the Nederland Bulldog Classic.

At home, the Indians didn’t let up one bit.

Behind Edsel Damo’s 22 points, PNG took a 59-36 win in the rematch Tuesday and evened its record at 4-4.  Trent Lee added 15 points and Drake Rojas had 11 for the Indians.

Tracy Smith controlled the boards for PNG and totaled 14 rebounds.

PNG led 20-12 after one quarter and led 28-21 at halftime.

Kolten Weeks led Bridge City with 13 points, and Chasen Burch added 11.

PNG will take on Buna at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and face Evadale at 7:30 that evening at the Hardin-Jefferson Marathon. Bridge City will compete in the Central Heights tournament this weekend.

SABINE PASS 36, HIGH ISLAND 34

HIGH ISLAND — Two players accounted for 83 percent of Sabine Pass’ scoring in a rare low-scoring affair that went the Sharks’ way.

Daniel Sam scored 19 points and Harold James had 11 as the Sharks pulled a two-point win over the Cardinals.

Sabine Pass will play in the Baytown Classic, Thursday through Saturday.
