Burl Fisher, Jr.

Mr. Burl Fisher, Jr., 83, of Port Arthur, TX, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones.  A native of Natchitoches, LA, he was a longtime resident of Port Arthur and retired from Local 853 and H.W. Campbell Construction Company.  He was a faithful member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, church custodian for a number of years and was the groundskeeper until his health failed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burl Sr. and Ida Nelson Fisher; his loving wife, Lucille Fisher; brothers, Edward A. and Jackie Conley.

Left to cherish his memory are his only daughter, Veronica Fisher; four sons, Robert C., Burl III, Jessie (Glenda) and Troy (Asano) Fisher all of Port Arthur; one brother, Peter (Chris) Fisher of Bellwood, IL; three sisters, Edith Blake and Camilla Dupree of Natchitoches, LA and Ruby J. Head of Mansfield, LA; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; a very special family friend, Ezra L. Tatmon; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Walter D. Allen, Sr., officiating.  Entombment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
