PNG’s Riggs named honorable mention 5A All-State

Port Neches-Groves senior receiver Preston Riggs was the only Jefferson County player selected to the 5A All-State football team, released by the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Riggs, a first-team All-District 22-5A selection, caught 72 passes for 1,403 yards and 19 touchdowns in helping the Indians win a share of the District 22-5A championship. PNG reached the third round of the 5A Division II playoffs.

Denton Ryan quarterback Spencer Sanders was named the 5A offensive player of the year. Gary Wiley of Longview Pine Tree is the 5A defensive player of the year.
