Storm-related actions on city council agenda

Port Neches City Council at its meeting this week will consider temporary steps taken in the wake of Hurricane and Tropical Storm Harvey. These include extending parking for travel trailers and extending the waiver of permit fees related to the storm.

The meeting will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Port Neches City Hall, 1005 Merriman St.

Valero Foundations donates to schools

The Valero Energy Foundation recently made a donation to Southeast Texas Emergency Relief Fund in the amount of $25,000.

These funds will be dedicated to the Port Arthur Independent School District to help provide Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Assistance for unmet needs of teachers and other faculty and school leaders as well as unmet needs of special needs children in PAISD who have lost needed equipment and supplies due to Hurricane Harvey.

 

Zydeco breakfast set for Jan. 27

Friendship Social and Civic Club will host its annual zydeco breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at S&G Auditorium, 900 Fifth St., Port Arthur.

Gerade Delephose and Zydeco Gators will play.

Coffee, juice and breakfast provided. Bring your own bottle.

Tickets: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Museum plans Mardi pARTy

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will host its annual Mardi pARTy from 7-11 p.m. Feb. 2 at 500 Main St., Beaumont.

The fundraiser will include music, dancing, Cajun cuisine by Katharine & Co. and a live/silent auction. All proceeds benefit AMSET education programs and exhibitions.

Reservations for AMSET members, $75; non-members, $85. Reserved table for eight is $1,500.
