Lamar’s Nzeakor named conference player of week

The Southland Conference on Tuesday named Lamar center Josh Nzeakor its player of the week.
Nzeakor, a junior from Mesquite, totaled 12 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Houston Baptist and followed that with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Lamar (10-5, 2-0 Southland) will visit New Orleans (5-8, 2-0) for a 7 p.m. Wednesday game and return home to take on Central Arkansas (7-8, 1-1) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
