JANICE TODORA ON BOWLING: New year begins at Max

Here’s hoping everyone had a safe and Happy New Year. As we get ready to kick off the second half of the bowling season, everyone pause for a minute to reflect on this past year and your many bowling accomplishments.
As for 2018, let’s all look forward to a prosperous new year, great bowling and continued success throughout all of 2018.
This column hasn’t reported for a couple of weeks, so we have a little bit of make-up to do. Let’s get started and I promise it won’t hurt.
The Monday before Christmas we had the Valero League bowling its last night of the year.
Valero bowlers took top honors the week all the way around. First Bryan Boldt tuned up the lanes to lead the senior men with games of 196, 232 and 286 for a fine 714. The senior ladies were led by Kat Douglas as she put together games of 170, 213 and 237 for a nice 620 series. Sami Jo Williams led all the lady bowlers that week with steady games of 212, 213 and 210 for a respectable 635 set. Top bowler of the week was Zachary Beckett. Zachary hammered on the lanes with games of 238, 276 and 234 for a fine 748 set to take top honors.
Cain Shaw remains on top of his game in the Saturday morning Stars of Tomorrow. Cain had games of 183, 235 and 187 for a nice 605 series.
The week between Christmas and New Year’s had the Energy Country Ford/Allstate still bowling. Buddy Speed led the senior men with games of 249, 257 and 188 for a 694 set. Gloria Divello led the senior women with games of 207, 190 and 161 for a 558 series. Belinda Powell led all the women this week with a nice set that had games of 244 234 and 247 for a 725 series. Last, Daryl Hughes led all bowlers this week with games of 264 247 and 223 for a sweet 734 series.
All the upcoming tournaments are going to be coming up. Any honor scores that are shot at these tournaments should be notified, and we will include them.
