Editor’s note: Start times for Memorial-PNG basketball games have been rescheduled since the previous version of this story went to press. Any other reschedulings should be reported to ic.murrell@panews.com

Tuesday’s winter weather occurrence, leading to potentially icy roads, naturally brought about postponements of local sports events.

Port Arthur Memorial’s varsity girls basketball team will take on Port Neches-Groves at 5 p.m. Thursday in Port Neches. That is also when the Memorial varsity boys will host PNG.

Nederland’s varsity boys team will host Livingston at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the same start time and date for the Nederland at Livingston varsity girls game. No sub-varsity games between these schools will be held.

Memorial and Bob Hope have postponed their boys soccer match scheduled for Tuesday at the Gulf Coast Youth Soccer Club fields, Bob Hope’s home surface. Bob Hope athletic director Rick Frey said a makeup is unlikely.

Bridge City is hosting West Orange-Stark in basketball on Wednesday at normal start times. Bridge City designated the games as “Red Out,” inviting fans to wear a BC shirt to get in for free.

Sabine Pass’ basketball teams were off Tuesday and will resume action Friday at Evadale.

Also, Lamar University’s home women’s basketball game against Incarnate Word has been moved to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Two local events have not been rescheduled: Both the Lamar University and Lamar State College Port Arthur men’s basketball teams will still play Wednesday. Lamar University is still scheduled to tip off at Incarnate Word in San Antonio at 7 p.m., and Lamar State will square off against Angelina College in Lufkin at 7:30 p.m.
