MEN’S BASKETBALL: EX-SEAHAWK DIAWARA MAKES TEAM CANADA

Former Lamar State guard Mambi Diawara earned a spot on the Canadian national basketball team for the Commonwealth Games.

The 6-foot-4 Montreal product averaged 20.6 points and shot 45.7 points per game this past season for the University of Calgary Dinos as a senior, leading them to the U Sports national championship, the Canadian equivalent to the NCAA championship. Diawara starred at Lamar State from 2014-16.

The Commonwealth Games are a quadrennial Olympic-style event involving the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes 53 countries formerly territories of the British Empire.
