A shooting victim died late Friday after he was dropped off at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Hospital representatives called the Beaumont police at 10:52 p.m. to report they were treating a gunshot victim. Witnesses said they saw the driver of the vehicle that dropped off the victim hiding items in the parking lot. Police located the vehicle and detained two people.

Preliminary investigation revealed the fatal shooting occurred inside the vehicle at another location. A handgun was recovered with an amount of illicit substances from inside the vehicle, police said in an issued statement. The investigation was continuing Saturday and detectives continued to interview witness and involved parties.

The victim died shortly after he was taken to the hospital. The victim’s name would be released after full and proper notifications have been made, police said.
