BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police have identified a man whose body was found floating in a canal behind the Exxon Station at Washington and Interstate 10 on Wednesday morning as Bobby Hodge, 46, a transient male with a previous Lumberton address.

A witness told the store clerk there as a body floating in the canal and the body appeared to have been in the water for an extended period of time, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Place 2 Nancy Beaulieu was called to the scene and ordered an autopsy.

The death is still under investigation but police say there is no sign of foul play.
