Beaumont police make arrest in fatal shooting

Beaumont police have charged a suspect in the Tuesday shooting death of a local victim.

In an issued statement, police said they responded to a call at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Ewing after a report about a man being shot. Officers found the deceased male — he had been shot several times, they said — at that address. The victim was identified as Bradison Allen Mims, 29.

Police later arrested Herbert Wayne Collins, 38, of Beaumont and charged him in the shooting. The suspect was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of Delaware.

Collins was booked into the Jefferson County jail at 8:09 p.m., charged with murder. No bond was set.
