Welcome back to the third round, Bulldogs.

The Nederland tennis team had lost in the UIL area round each year between 2011-16 before finally reaching the 5A Region III quarterfinal last season. Now, the Bulldogs are a win away from matching their best tournament run in program history after winning Tuesday’s 5A area round match, 11-4, over Richmond Foster at Baytown’s Goose Creek Memorial High.

Nederland will play Friendswood at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barbers Hill High in Mont Belvieu. The last time Nederland made it to the regional semifinals was 1993.
