The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has levied a penalty of $11,551 on Steinhagen Oil Co. in Beaumont for a leak on a storage tank in 2017 that was not reported in timely fashion.
The leak was at an underground storage tank at a convenience store, Fastlane No. 14, at 695 W. Railroad in Vidor.
In documents released Wednesday, TCEQ said the infraction concerned the state’s water code and TCEQ rules. TCEQ deferred $2,887 of the total penalty of $14,438 because of Steinhagen’s compliance with TCEQ’s order.
Releases from the tank occurred on April 17 and Oct. 10, 2017, TCEQ records show. The company paid the penalty but denied the violations, records show.
