Betty Williamson Hickman of Groves, Texas passed away on November 4, 2018 at the age of 89 in McKinney, Texas. She was born on November 1, 1929 to John Elwin Williamson and Loretta (Cunningham) Williamson in Port Arthur. She married Frank Hickman on November 13, 1954 in Port Arthur, Texas. Betty was owner of Betty’s Florist for 40 years until she and Frank retired. She was the National Steel Guitar Champion and traveled all over the United States playing her music. Betty loved working in her yard and cultivating her flowers. She was an interior designer and landscape architect. Although, Betty loved all of these things, she loved the Lord and her family foremost. Betty will be greatly missed. Betty and Frank were married for almost 60 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Barkley and husband, Bron of Van Alstyne, Texas and Deanna Des Ormeaux and husband, Kirk of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, John Paul Barkley and wife, Kriston, Jared Barkley, Kris Des Ormeaux and wife, Christina, and Kerri Des Ormeaux; great grandchildren, Joshua, Ashtyn, Everett, Brooks, Lainey, Dominic, Cristain, Sebastian, Vernan and Braylen.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hickman and parents, John and Loretta Williamson.
A funeral service was held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. There was a private graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves, Texas. The family received friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
