Staff report
A one-vehicle wreck Friday morning sent the driver to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries and shut down or delayed Interstate 10 traffic for an hour.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Azuena Bahena, 40, of Beaumont was westbound near Mile Marker 834 around 10:15 when the driver’s 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe left the roadway and rolled over several times. DPS said the cause of the wreck was not determined.
Two of the four passengers were taken to St. Elizabeth’s with minor injuries; two sustained no visible injuries, but were taken to St. Elizabeth’s for observation, according to a DPS issued statement.
All westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near mile marker 834, were closed for a little over an hour, but have since reopened to traffic, DPS said.
Information was preliminary, DPS said, as Troopers worked to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash.
