PORT NECHES — The “most-winningest Port Neches-Groves coach” Barbara Comeaux has been named parade marshal for this year’s Port Neches Christmas Parade.

Comeaux, who joined PN-G High School as physical education teacher and head volleyball coach in 1971, was inducted into the Texas Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016. At that time, her teams had 1,179 wins.

The parade is set for 2 p.m. Dec. 1 with lineup starting at 12:30 p.m. The parade will begin at Port Neches Avenue and end at Port Neches Riverfront Park, 620 Grigsby Ave.

Debbie Plaia, executive director of the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, said the suggestion to name Comeaux the parade marshal was unanimous because of all of her accomplishments and more.

“She teaches the girls more than just playing volleyball; she teaches them life lessons and that means a lot,” Plaia said. “We’re excited to be able to honor her with this.”
