Port Arthur police released the names of two people who were killed in two separate vehicular accidents last week.
Parker Euton, 14, of Port Neches, who was a Groves Middle School student, was killed around 10:45 p.m. Nov. 20 after a vehicle-bicycle collision in the 10000 block of U.S. 69.
According to police, the cyclist was struck and thrown off the bicycle, sending him into the grass median. He was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, where died from his injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
A spokesperson for Port Neches-Groves Independent School District said grief counselors were on hand Monday for students that needed them.
Services for Euton were set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
Police have identified Hipolito Salazar as the man who was killed in a head-on collision in the 3000 block of MLK Drive/Texas 82 at about 2:18 p.m. Wednesday.
Salazar, 54, was a resident of Port Neches.
Investigation revealed that a white GMC truck traveling south crossed into the northbound lane of traffic and was struck by a Red Chevy truck traveling north.
Police said the GMC truck flipped over the concrete guardrail, landing on its roof. The driver of the GMC was transported to a local hospital.
Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam pronounced the driver of the Red Chevy truck dead at the scene.
