Senior right guard Garrett Bowery (first team) and senior safety Davon Jernigan (third team) were named to the All-America list for Football Championship Subdivision programs. The honors come after a season when both helped the Cardinals earn their first-ever NCAA Division I playoff appearance.

Bowery anchored an offensive line that helped five players finish the season with triple-digit rushing yards, including quarterbacks Darrel Colbert Jr. (597) and Jordan Hoy (516). Lamar’s offense rushed for 2,902 yards and 27 touchdowns and passed for 2,275 yards and 20 TDs.

Jernigan, along with junior teammate Garrison Mitchell, ranked among the top 50 in the FCS for interceptions with four each. Jernigan returned one 53 yards for a touchdown against Southeastern Louisiana at home on Sept. 22, picked off two at Nicholls State on Sept. 29 and had another at McNeese State on Nov. 17 in a game that helped earn the Cardinals an at-large playoff bid. Jernigan returned the four picks for a total of 99 yards and broke up 11 passes to go with 78 tackles.
