Carol Jean Perry LaFleur, 74, of Groves left us to be with God on Friday, March, 1st, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with Monsignor Kenneth Greig and Father J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 5:00-7:30 PM, Monday, March 4th at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
A native of Groves, Texas, Carol Jean had lived in the Groves area for the majority of her life. In fact, she lived and raised her family in the same home that she was born and grew up in. In her early years, she travelled the globe with the Melody Maids, entertaining troops abroad. She was a homemaker dedicated to her husband and family and she also directed the choir at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for over 25 years. Her angelic voice blessed multitudes as she sang for numerous other parishes for masses, funerals and weddings. It was very common to meet people whose lives had been touched by her in some way. She lived her life as an inspiration to others, exuding poise, eloquence and grace. Her absence will leave a void in the lives she touched and an irreplaceable light in the world.
Survivors include her three children, Kerry LaFleur of Fort Worth, Texas, Joel LaFleur and wife Brandalon of Garden Valley, Idaho, and Janét LaFleur Morris and her husband, Carter Morris of Bridge City, Texas. Grandchildren Kolten Paul LaFleur, Liliana Jolie LaFleur, Brody Wayne Hairston, Caroline Elizabeth Morris, Logan James Morris, Patrick Scott Morris and Brennah Marie Hairston, along with countless friends who were considered family.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Alfred “Butch” LaFleur and both of her parents, Maud Louise and Irby Perry as well as her brother, Joseph Perry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and/or the Dementia Society of America.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Wills, Heath Strachan, Kolten LaFleur, Dylan Wesley, Michael Airhart, Randy Hairston, Michael Doyle and John Parent. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brody Hairston and Jacob Wilkins.
