NEDERLAND — A non-profit charitable organization wants to raise $500 to help those in need.

Community Care Prayer Outreach, located in Nederland but which serves other local cities, as well, is in the midst of a shortage of some specific items — including underwear and detergent.

“We used to get donations from a local retail store but things have changed at the store and they are no longer donating the items they had,” Libby Arnold, director, said.

The items that are needed include:

  • Boys underwear sizes 2,4,6,8
  • Men’s underwear sizes medium and large
  • Women’s panties sizes 8-14
  • Detergent, any kind

“We have established a monetary goal to help us purchase these needed items,” Bonnie Burke, of CCPO, said in a Facebook post. “If you are able, we now have a donate button available. It will take you directly to the Community Care Prayer Outreach website for the donations.”

The website is communitycareprayeroutreach.com.

Arnold said those wishing to purchase the items are also welcome to make donations. She asks the receipt accompany the donation so she can keep up with the donations and a receipt will be given for tax purposes.

Arnold said there is still a need in the community, some of which comes from Tropical Storm and Hurricane Harvey. She only recently was able to return to her own home, post-Harvey, she said.

Community Care Prayer Outreach is located at 808 Nederland Ave., Nederland. They can be reached at 409-724-0163.
