Lucille “Memaw” Thibodeaux

Lucille “Memaw” Thibodeaux, 97, of Groves, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Groves.
She was born on November 25, 1921 to her parents, Louis Pappas and Katie Corrales Pappas in Robeline, Louisiana. Lucille has been a resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area since she was 3 years old. She was a devoted homemaker in raising her family with her husband, Houston. Lucille was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur, where she was active in CCD, Altar Society and a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. She enjoyed Cajun music, Cajun dancing, cooking and attending Mardi Gras where she won many trophies for Best Costume!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Houston Thibodeaux, her daughter, Brenda Chauvin and her husband, Tommy, her son, Gerald Thibodeaux, her faithful friend and companion, Robert Monceaux, her parents and her three sisters, Thelma Parker, Stella Proctor and Lois Wilson.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Pat Slott and her husband, Gary of Groves, her son, Paul Thibodeaux and his wife, Wendy of Vinton, Louisiana, daughter in law Peggy Thibodeaux, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Inez Pitre of Port Arthur, her brother-in-law, Charles Proctor of Bartlesville, Oklahoma along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 5:30 PM till 7:30 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Rev. Kevin Badeaux, serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
