Mardi Gras Southeast Texas said Thursday morning that discussions about moving the event to Port Neches have closed.
“Due to irreconcilable differences, Mardi Gras Southeast Texas has chosen to opt out of further discussions with the city of Port Neches regarding relocation of the festival to Port Neches Riverfront Park,” MGST spokeswoman Laura Childress said.
She said Mardi Gras Southeast Texas requested the item be removed from Thursday’s Port Neches City Council agenda “as no further action is required at this time.”
Childress said, “Other opportunities have been presented and will be considered. Watch for announcements in the near future.”
Mardi Gras Southeast Texas in March completed its 27th celebration in Port Arthur, but organization leaders have cited declining attendance there as cause for it to seek changes this year.
