A seventh-inning charge by Northwestern State eventually cost Lamar a doubleheader sweep in Southland Conference softball Friday.
Northwestern State scored six runs in the seventh to erase a 2-0 lead and staved off a Lamar comeback in a 6-5 victory. The game followed a 4-3 Lamar win.
With one out, the Demons hit a one-run single and three-run double to chase Erin Kyle out of the circle. They then smashed a one-run triple and hit a sacrifice fly off Julia Voluntad.
Taylor Murphy tried to ignite a Lamar comeback with a two-run single and Victoria Garivey singled to right, but a fly out and strikeout saved the Demons.
Lamar scored four runs in the first inning of the first game. Northwestern State had three in the sixth.
The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
