Post 4820 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary has announced three finalists in their Patriot’s Pen student essay contest for middle school students in Port Neches and Groves.

The finalists are: Brady R. Brashers, Groves Middle School; Angelina Castro, Val Verde Christian Academy in Groves; Alyvia J. Ott, Port Neches Middle School.

The contest theme was “Why I Honor the American Flag.”

Dolly Dack, president of the VFW Auxiliary, said the winners in order of finish will be announced at a May 9 luncheon at Port Neches Post 4820.

The contest was held last October.

Prize money is $300, $200 and $100 in order of finish.
