Motorcycle rider killed in two-vehicle collision

A motorcycle rider was killed late Monday in a two-vehicle collision on River Bend Road.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian crash on River Bend Road in Jefferson County around 8:45 p.m. The crash occurred near SH 105.
Initial reports were that a Honda motorcycle — a dirt bike — was traveling southbound on River Bend Road. A Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on River Bend Road. The passenger vehicle collided head-on with the motorcycle. After the collision, the driver fell off the dirt bike.
The dirt bike driver, 36, from Beaumont, was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. He was not wearing a helmet, Troopers said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 61, Beaumont, was not injured.
The name of the deceased victim will not be released until the next of kin has been notified, DPS said.
Troopers said this was an active crash investigation and there were no additional details available.
