Pups in Peril Pet of the Week for 8/16/19

Penelope has been with us since her rescue on Nov. 1, 2018, and has made a total transformation. She had been roaming the streets in search of food and shelter after she was abandoned.
One determined PIP volunteer went to stake out the area and ultimately catch Penelope. She spent months at Wilcox Animal Clinic where Dr. Brady Hanson and his team helped Penelope heal.
She was emaciated, needed FHO surgery and was treated for heartworms, vaccinated and microchipped. Penelope’s foster mom reports that Penelope believes she is a Chihuahua and has no concept of her size.
Penelope prefers to eat alone, away from the other dogs or in her crate, probably because she remembers the days without food.
However, she now gets along with most of the dogs in her foster home, and a proper introduction is certainly necessary if she was to go to a home with other dogs. We believe her to be a Mastiff mix.
PPenelope is now ready to move on to a forever home. She would love a secure, fenced yard and someone that doesn’t mind her sitting in their lap from time to time. Please fill out the adoption application at www.pupsinperil.org/Adopt.
