A late-night encounter turned violent Friday in Port Arthur, where authorities said a 37-year-old man was shot.
According to the Port Arthur Police Department, the victim told officers he was shot while he was visiting Louis Manor Apartments.
The victim told police two men pointed a firearm at him and demanded money.
“After a brief struggle, one of the suspects discharged the firearm at the victim, striking him one time to the abdomen,” a release from Sgt. Ryan Byers said. “The victim was able to drive himself to a near-by gas station, Fuel Depot, where he called the police.”
Byers said the victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, adding officers were dispatched to Fuel Depot in the 700 block of West Gulfway Drive at 11:11 p.m. Friday.
