$150,000 slide to grace Nederland Swimming Pool

NEDERLAND — Swimmers who enjoy the cool waters and sunny days offered at the Nederland swimming pool have something to look forward to next summer.
City Council members approved the purchase and installation of a $150,000 slide, which will stand close to 16 feet high and include two full revolutions on the way down for swimming pool thrill seekers looking to enjoy an exciting splash down.
The Nederland Swimming Pool is located at 2301 Avenue H and operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Private bookings are available throughout the season.
City leaders stressed that the slide purchase utilizes funds from the sale of a pipeline and not taxpayers’ dollars.
City Manager Christopher Duque said the purchase does not take away from public safety, streets or similar city-led efforts.
