Ervin “Shorty” Richard

Ervin “Shorty” Richard was born on November 19, 1929 in Mamou, Louisiana.

He is the son of the late Lovicy and Charlie Richard II.

Ervin was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for over 60 years.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, enlisting in April 1953, and served for 3 years.

Ervin was also a survivor of the Korean War.

After receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he then married his bride, Della Mae Vidrine (Richard).

He and Della Richard were blessed with 10 kids.

Ervin was also employed and retired from Texaco Refinery and was a long-time member of the Lakeside Park Church of Christ in Port Arthur, Texas.

Ervin is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della Mae Richard (Vidrine).

He leaves behind to cherish his memories six sons and three daughters: Darrell Richard (Barbara) of Port Arthur, TX, Karen Richard of Katy, TX, Judy Richard of Long Beach, CA, Eugene Richard of Moreno Valley, CA, Ronnie Richard of Port Arthur, TX, Patrick Richard (Lashawn) of Moreno Valley, CA, Marsie Richard-Harris (Bryant) of Moreno Valley, CA, Melvin Richard of Moreno Valley, CA; Carey Richard of Port Arthur, TX and the late Janice Richard-Martin (Terry) of Port Arthur, TX.

Ervin has three sisters and six brothers, Lou Richard, Gloria Allen (Ben), Rena Jones all of Port Arthur, Texas, Larry Richard (Cynthia), Allen Richard, Kernis Richard (Josephine), Calvin Richard (Julia), Roger Richard (Lorena), Webster Richard; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Lakeside Park Church of Christ, 5600 Cambridge, Port Arthur, TX with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
